Complete Runner would like to thank all who participated and made the annual Pot O’ Gold St. Patrick’s Day races possible this year. You braved the harshest winter in recent history to train for an participate in this race in the middle of March with snow still on the ground and temperatures twenty degrees below average, and we thank you for your passion and dedication!
If you waited until the last minute to register for the Pot O’ Gold, you may have noticed that you could register online for the event the same day as the race. In fact, the online registration stayed open until the start of the race for your convenience.
Participants and their family were also able to sign up on the race website to get race updates (results) posted to their Facebook or Twitter profiles, or sent via text message. So, seconds after you cross the finish line your results are posted online or sent to your phone. And, the results are really easy to read on your phone, too.
This innovative technology to race timing and registration will also be available for the upcoming Run4Wine in October.
There are many reasons (we’ve pointed out eight here) to run or walk the Pot O’ Gold 4 mile race this March 17. We also wanted to take a deeper look at the three things you will get in addition to running or walking the race.
1. Every finisher gets a race medal, whether you run or walk, finish first or last
2. Participants get a long-sleeve race shirt (not a sweatshirt)
3. The first 500 to register receive a sweet green Leprechaun Hat
In addition, you will have a great time with friends and family, burn off calories, and be downtown close to the bars if choose to take in all that St. Patrick’s Day has to offer!

Coming back to downtown Flint this St. Patrick’s Day is the 34th annual Pot O’ Gold four mile run and walk! There are some races that you run and you’re done, and then there are races that are much more than just a race, more of like an experience. The Pot O’ Gold is definitely an experience that you won’t want to miss this year, and here are the top eight reasons why:
1 – Free leprechaun hat to the first 500 to register!
2 – It gives U of M fans a reason to wear green.
3 – Every finisher gets a medal.
4 – Take part in a 30+ year Flint tradition!
5 – You get to work off your beer calories before the race instead of after.
6 – Hang out with other runners and walkers afterwards at the Flint Masonic Temple, or at one of many bars downtown Flint.
7 – A safe place to show off your beard, kilt, or green hair.
8 – A fun family event to show your kids St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just about green beer.

We’d like to thank all the adults and kids who took part in the annual Pot O’ Gold four mile run, walk, and kid’s run this St. Patrick’s Day, as well as all the sponsors, volunteers, and staff who made it happen!
Even though the weather was a little cooler than last year (see pictures below) we were excited to partner with Flint DDA for a bigger after party. Leftover food was donated to a local homeless shelter, and remember to stop by the store for your award if you weren’t able to get it on Sunday.
People wear more green when it is colder out, as shown in the picture above of the 2013 Pot O’ Gold starting line.
The starting line in 2012 shows unseasonably warm temperatures for March in Michigan with most everyone wearing shorts.
Thanks again for an awesome race! Check out more upcoming races on our calendar.
We’ve found that runners and walkers want more out of local road races. They want more swag, more food, and more entertainment. We’ve listened and we’ve acted.
This year the race will start and end near the flat lot on Saginaw Street. The course will still be a beautiful and fast four miles and all participants will get medals and a shirt. In addition, the first 500 to register will also receive a commemorative beer mug that will come in handy after the race.
After your four mile run or walk you will finish near the flat lot where food will be provided for all race participants, and other food and beer vendors will be on hand as well. You can relax with your food and drink under the tent while listening to live music. And if you are feeling up for it you can join the pub crawl that will be taking place downtown.
That’s what we’re talking about!
We’re excited to partner with the Flint DDA to make the whole Pot O’ Gold Race experience one that will be hard to forget.
The Blarney trot starts at 4:30 PM and is only $5. The four mile run starts at 5:00 PM with the walk starting one minute later. Early registration is $25 until March 1 then rises to $30 until race day.
Make plans now to run or walk on St. Patrick’s Day with your family and friends to take part in all the city’s festivities! To learn more or register you can stop by Complete Runner or sign up online today.
