With over 800 participants and lots of great feedback, the inaugural Run4Wine four mile run and walk was a smashing success!
“I have run 50 races this year, and this has been the best race by far.”
~Cory Steuben, overall winner of the Run4Wine four mile race
The Run4Wine was a unique event from the start. From the race aspect, the course was exclusively on the Jewel Golf Course which would be similar to a high school or college cross country race. Although the course was relatively flat, the final stretch gave participants a challenging “dip” to traverse with an uphill finish that you soon won’t forget. In the words of Curtis Thompson, “We wanted you to earn the wine [with the uphill finish] so you would appreciate it that much more.”
The other unique aspect of the event was the wine, of course. Coupled with a BBQ and live music, some people didn’t participate in the race but just came for the after party, and who could blame them!
We’d like to thank all those who participated in the run, walk, and after party, as well as the many sponsors and volunteers who helped to make the inaugural Run4Wine a huge success, including:
- Grand Blanc Motorcars
- The Jewel
- Fenton Winery & Brewery
- Vision Wine & Spirits
- Wolcott Winery
- C&L Ward
- Race Services Company
- Women2Women
We are also thrilled that a portion of the proceeds from the event were donated to the Old Newsboys and their great efforts to provide for needy children in Genesee County.
